FAQ // BEFORE YOU APPLY
Frequently asked questions.
WynterIX answers the common pre-application questions here, grouped by topic: engagement terms, search and AI visibility, website ownership, automation, Exclusive Market Partnerships, and how we work. The short version is a ninety-day minimum, a written plan in week one, and systems you own (partnership properties excepted). Prices live on the pricing page.
Engagements and terms.
What is the minimum term?
Ninety days for search visibility work and for Exclusive Market Partnerships, and six months for the full client acquisition system, PERMAFROST. After the minimum, every retainer runs month to month and ends with thirty days written notice. A website build is a one-time project with no retainer attached.
Why will you not take a shorter engagement?
Because nothing we sell becomes measurable in less time. Search engines take weeks to recrawl technical changes, new pages take weeks to be indexed and ranked, and AI engines refresh their sources on their own schedules. A thirty-day promise sells the promise, not the result. The full reasoning is in why we refuse engagements shorter than ninety days.
What happens in the first week?
You receive a written 12-month roadmap: the pages we will build, the pages we will fix, the search phrases we will target, and what is measurable each month. We agree how results will be measured and set up access to your accounts. No work starts without the plan in writing.
When will I see results?
It depends on the phase. Month one is foundations, measured in crawl health and indexation. Months two and three bring first ranking movement and first AI mentions, and from month four the measure becomes qualified leads per month and what each one cost. The four phases of an engagement are laid out month by month.
How much does it cost?
Our floors and terms are published on the pricing and commitments page. Every figure there is the starting point for a scope, not a menu price. We publish them so you can decide whether to apply before either of us spends time on a call.
Do terms renew automatically?
Not into a new fixed term. Once the minimum ends, the engagement continues month to month until either side gives thirty days written notice. We do not lock clients into auto-renewing contracts.
Search, AEO, and GEO.
What is the difference between SEO, AEO, and GEO?
SEO (search engine optimization) is ranking in Google's classic list of results. AEO (answer engine optimization) is being selected as the direct answer in featured snippets, the boxed answers at the top of Google, and in voice assistants. GEO (generative engine optimization) is being cited and recommended inside AI-written answers from Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and others. The side-by-side comparison of SEO, AEO, and GEO goes deeper.
Do I need all three?
For a high-ticket business, yes. Buyers now split their research between classic results, extracted answers, and AI chat tools, and they do not care which engine answered. The three disciplines share the same foundations, so we run them as one program rather than three invoices.
Can you guarantee page one or a ChatGPT recommendation?
No. Nobody controls how Google ranks pages or what an AI model decides to say, and anyone who guarantees either is not telling the truth. We commit to the work, the written timeline, and an honest monthly report of what moved and what did not.
How do you measure visibility in AI answers?
We check a fixed panel of buyer questions every month across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini. The report shows how often you are cited as a source, how often you are named, and how you compare with competitors, with the raw answers attached. AI Overview citations are also tracked in Ahrefs Brand Radar.
Will I need a lot of new content?
Usually some, not always a lot. Pages that are already close to ranking are rebuilt first, because they move fastest. New money pages, each built to win one specific buying search, are added every month where the roadmap shows a gap.
Do you buy links?
No. Authority comes from contributed articles, mentions in outlets named in your roadmap, and consistent business facts across the web. We do not buy spam links and we do not promise link counts, because both are ways of selling activity instead of results.
Websites and ownership.
Who owns the website when the engagement ends?
You do, along with its content, design files, domain, and every account it runs on. Automations and reports are yours too. The one exception is an Exclusive Market Partnership property, which WynterIX builds at its own cost and keeps, and we say so in writing before you sign.
Can my team make changes after launch?
Yes. There is no drag-and-drop page builder, so text and images are edited in plain content files that one trained person on your team can manage. A handover document explains the rest, and larger changes can go through us or any competent developer.
Will a new site cost me the rankings I have now?
It should not. Before launch we map every existing address to its new equivalent and set permanent redirects, so search engines carry your history over. Content worth keeping is rewritten into the new structure rather than thrown away.
Where does the site live?
On your own hosting account, as a static site: pages built ahead of time and served from servers close to each visitor. That keeps load times under two seconds on a phone, hosting costs near zero, and weekly security patching off your list. Hosting is documented at handover so any developer can manage it.
How long does a website build take?
Six to eight weeks from discovery to launch, followed by a ninety-day care window for fixes and small changes. The website design and build service walks through each step.
Do you build online stores?
Not as a primary line. Our sites are built for businesses that sell through a call or a consultation. If you need a full store, we will tell you so and point you to a specialist.
Automation.
What do you automate?
The steps between a first inquiry and a booked job: missed-call response, instant qualification, follow-up sequences, appointment booking, review requests, and reporting. Each one closes a gap where leads are commonly lost. The AI automation service covers where each pays.
Will an AI receptionist sound like a robot to my callers?
A well-built voice agent sounds natural on short, predictable calls, but it is still software and we do not pretend otherwise. We use it for after-hours coverage, overflow, and first qualification. Where a call needs judgment, such as a complex consultation or regulated intake, we will decline to build one.
Whose accounts do the automations run on?
Yours. Every automation is built on accounts you control and handed over with documentation. Nothing depends on WynterIX to keep running after we part ways.
What happens if an automation breaks?
Every automation project includes 30 days of tuning after launch, tested against real traffic, and PERMAFROST clients have theirs maintained as part of the monthly work. After that, the documentation tells any competent developer how it is wired and how to fix it.
Do you need access to my CRM?
Yes, if you want leads tagged with their source and followed through to booked or lost. Access is granted on your own account, used only for the build and reporting, and removed when the engagement ends.
Can I buy automation without search work?
Yes. A single automation build, such as an AI receptionist or a follow-up sequence, is quoted as a standalone project. Floors are on the pricing page.
Exclusive Market Partnerships.
What is an Exclusive Market Partnership?
WynterIX builds, owns, and ranks a dedicated web property for one service in one metro, then sends every call and form it produces to a single partner business. One partner holds each market, in writing. The Exclusive Market Partnership program explains each step.
How is this different from buying leads from a marketplace?
A marketplace sells the same inquiry to several businesses at once, and they race each other to the phone. Here no lead is shared and no call is resold, and every one is on a tracked, recorded line with a monthly statement you can verify. The exclusive leads versus marketplaces math shows why that matters.
Why do I not own the property?
Because WynterIX pays for the build and the ranking work and carries the risk that the property never produces. In exchange, you get the pipeline without the build cost. It is the only thing we build that a client does not own, and it is stated plainly before anything is signed.
What happens when a lead is bad?
It is credited under the written lead policy. Wrong numbers, solicitations, out-of-area contacts, and duplicates do not count as qualified leads. The lead policy sets out the definitions, the credit process, and how disputes are settled.
Can a competitor take the same market?
No. While you hold a market it is closed to everyone else, by service and by metro. If you give notice and leave, the market can be offered to another business.
Which trades and markets qualify?
High-ticket home services and trades, with jobs of roughly $4,000 and up. We have screened hundreds of markets and do not publish which are open. You can check whether your market is open through a short application.
Working with us.
Why is there no phone number?
We do not publish a phone number. Every engagement starts with the application, because we pre-screen for businesses that can use and afford what we build. Clients receive a direct line once we are working together.
Who actually does the work?
The people you talk to. WynterIX is founder-led and small by design, with specialists brought in under our direction when a job needs them. There is no account manager layer between you and the work.
How quickly do you reply to an application?
Within one business day, with a yes, a no, or a short list of questions. If it is a yes, the next step is a short call and then a written scope. There is no pressure at any stage.
What does the application ask?
What you sell, what a typical job or engagement is worth, what you need, the monthly investment you are prepared to make, when you want to start, and who will be on the calls. It takes about two minutes. You can apply to work with WynterIX when you are ready.
Who is not a fit?
Businesses that need results in thirty days, that are shopping on price, or that have no sales process to receive leads. We also turn away anyone who wants shortcuts or wants to be told what they want to hear. The full list is on who we work with, and who we turn away.
Do you work outside the United States?
Not at launch. WynterIX works with businesses in the United States only. If that changes, this answer will change with it.
